Anael Salvador

Anael Salvador is a native of Espirito Santo, now living in Rio de Janeiro. He studied art in Brazil and New York and became a fully professional artist in 1993, painting exclusively in oils on canvas.

Anael paints landscapes, but almost entirely scenes in the colonial city of Parati on the coast south of Rio.  Baroque, simple and harmonious, cobbled streets, Anael describes Parati as “magic and beautiful, inexplicably seductive to all eyes but especially those appreciative of art”. He paints mostly by night when the high tides spill over the streets and the lights, shades and reflections create an artistic opportunity on every corner.

Parati is well known to tourists from all over Brazil, and to the thousands of international tourists taking excursions from Rio. Many artists paint its charms but Anael is among

the most respected and successful. His records show that visitors from every state in Brazil and from 31 other countries have bought his work. Several of his paintings are in   permanent exhibition in Portugal, his work is represented by galleries in Spain,

Portugal and the USA, and his paintings have been chosen for the covers

of regional telephone directories.

Anael has participated in 23 exhibitions since 1993 winning awards in all of them including 12 gold medal and first place awards; the paintings shown here from our collection were both awarded gold medals.
