Jaimendes

Jaimendes – full name Jaime Mendes - is one of Brazil’s leading contemporary artists. Born in Rio Grande do Sul in 1939 he combined painting with a career in graphic arts until the early 1980’s when he began painting full time. He first exhibited successfully in Brazil and Miami then in 1993 he sold his work through the famous Etude Picard auctions in Paris to establish international prices. Since then his work has been shown in many prestigious exhibitions in the United States and Europe. He now lives and has his studio in Rio de Janeiro

Jaimendes has developed his own distinctive style over the years and paints stunningly beautiful canvases with rich colours and figures that seem to come alive through their movement and expression.
