Roberto Pereira

Roberto Pereira is a native of Rio de Janeiro, born in 1945. He is a versatile musician, sculptor and artist of drawings and paintings in oils on canvas and has dedicated himself full time to his art since 1985. His first exhibition was in 1977 and since then he has participated in over 30 exhibitions winning almost 50 awards, including 15 gold medals and first place awards, 7 of them for his paintings. Much of his work is sold to international galleries, particularly in Spain and Portugal.  One of his paintings was presented to Pope John Paul II and hangs in the Basilica of St Paul in the Vatican

 Roberto’s painting is noted for its creativity and originality, the richness of his colours and the careful attention to accuracy and detail. His highly individual style is considered eclectic, always figurative, often surrealist, sometimes cubist. His ‘faceless people’ inhabit dreamlike scenes of jazz, pool and capoeira, or are fishermen on the beach.

Eunice Prado, art dealer of Porto Alegre writes “Figures such as these have never been seen before; their elongated forms in their own perspectives but anatomically perfect are unique in my experience”. Art writer and critic Paulo Cavini of Rio de Janeiro said,  “His works come from his imagination and are unique, creating a personal style never seen before in the field of paintings”.
