Ricardo Siccuro

Ricardo Siccuro was born in 1956 in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 15 he was injured in an accident and started to draw during his period of recuperation. A few months later he exhibited his work at the XXII National Exhibition of Modern Art alongside renowned Brazilian artists of the time. Motivated by the experience he started painting in oils and acrylics and at the age of 32, after a short career as an architect, began painting full time.

His early paintings were surreal, influenced by Dali, Escher, Magritte and others. But in recent years he has developed a meticulous individual style he calls ‘figurative serpentine’, in which his richly coloured figures are formed from flowing ribbons in light and shadows on textured backgrounds. They are remarkable as three dimensional illusions that capture the contours and graceful movement of his subjects.

Ricardo’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries and art fairs in several countries in Latin America, North America and Europe, and in the UK and Ireland by Philip Cox Fine Art. He has participated in many exhibitions in his native Brazil
